With the success of the 350gt, the 400gt was developed as an improved version of the car.
The first 400 gt, commonly referred to as simply the 400 gt or 400 gt interim. This version came with a 4.0 liter engine and noticeable comfort changes to the interior as well as other visual and functional improvements. In its day, the 400 gt was ferruccio's dream of the perfect car come to life. In 1966 lamborghini prepared a larger version of the 350 and 400 gt called the 2+2 that made space for a rear seat and more overall interior space.
